Rotaractors are youths between the ages of 18 and 30 inclusive. The motto of Rotaract is Fellowship Through Service. Each Rotaract club has a standard constitution.
The activities of a Rotaract Club should be to develop professional and ethical leadership skills, get involved in community service and promote international understanding.
Rotaract activities at the district level provide opportunities for joint projects among Rotaract clubs, training of new club officers, sharing ideas for strengthening club services, and promoting Rotaract extensions to new areas. Rotaractors involved in these activities inevitably get to know Rotaract better. Rotary districts with only one Rotaract club should focus activities on developing a mechanism for Rotaract club extension to new communities in the district. The more you promote Rotaract in neighboring communities, the more Rotaract grows in your own community.
As the Rotaract chair or representative, you have the exciting opportunity to become involved with nurturing young leaders in your community. Rotaract also provides Rotarians the opportunity to develop their own leadership and communication skills, as well as organize Rotaract district events, which involve the coordination of many people.
Consider communicating with the previous year's district Rotaract leaders to learn more about Rotaract practices in your area including what worked and what did not. How could the program be improved? What new steps can be taken to ensure success? District chairs and representatives play an essential role in developing and supporting the Rotaract program in your area.
You may be wondering: what are my responsibilities as a district Rotaract leader? When should certain tasks be accomplished? How can I best support the growth and development of Rotaract? For more information on the duties of district Rotaract chairs and representatives, download the Rotaract Handbook, Guide For District Rotaract Leaders, and District Committee Manual.
