MEET THE PDG

Rtn. Tadesse Alemu, DG 2009-10

Tadesse Alemu is an Ethiopian National and was born on June 11, 1941 and is happily married to Muluwork Kifle and has three daughters aged 32 yrs, 30 yrs and 27 yrs old. Tadesse has an extensive professional background spanning over 30 years and covering a broad range of sectors including Education service, Directorship of Local and International bodies and also service in Governmental and Multinational Corporations.

Tadesse is a senior Rotarian and has been a member of the Rotary Club Addis Ababa Bole since January 1993. Since that period, he has served under various leadership roles within the club and was the president of Rotary Club of Addis Ababa-Bole, in the year 1997/98.

Thereafter Tadesse served in various District and International Rotary portfolios including member of Shelter Monitoring Committee of the Rotary Foundation 1998-2000, Group Study Exchange Team Leader of District 9200 of Rotary International - 1998, Assistant Governor, Rotary District 9200 for Rotary year 1999/2000, District Humanitarian Projects Coordinator – 1998/99, Board member of Ethiopian Hunger Plus- a Rotary Project since 1999 (Re-named and Registered with the Ministry of Justice of Ethiopia as Mena Mahber), District TRF Country coordinator 1999/2000, 2000/2001, DGN-2001/2002, member of Rotary International’s Landmine Committee 2002/2003, 2005-2006, “Membership Growth and Development” 2006/07, Country Chairman RFPD (Rotarian Action Group for Population & Development) 2006.

Some of the Rotary recognitions that he has received include: The Rotary Foundation Polio plus Medallion; Regional Service Award for a polio-Free World; Certificate of Appreciation from the President of Rotary International & Chairman of The Rotary Foundation; The Rotary Foundation District Service Awards; District Governor’s Citation.

He is a Paul Harris Fellow and benefactor.
