Rtn. Abdulhamid Aboo

Abdulhamid Aboo joined the Rotary Club of Mombasa on the 20th November, 1981 at the age of 26 years taking up various positions becoming the President of the club for the year 1989/90. He has been the Chairman of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of the Rotary Club of Mombasa in 1994 and the Chairman of the 72nd District Conference Committee “Rotary in Paradise” held at Neptune Beach Hotel, Mombasa in 1997. He is currently a Trustee of the Rotary Club of Mombasa Foundation.

Hamid has been actively involved at the District level having held various positions including having been District Governors Representative and Assistant Governor. He has led a Group Study Exchange Team to Sweden in 1993. He has also attended various district, regional and international Rotary conferences.

Hamid is a practicing advocate in Mombasa and also a Certified Public Secretary. He obtained his BA (HONS) and LLB degrees from the University of Delhi, India. He is a director of A.M. Aboo Associates Ltd, a management consultancy firm and of Aboo Insurance Brokers Ltd. He has served as a Secretary of the Mombasa Law Society and he is also the Founding Trustee of Muslim Lawyers Trust.

At the community level Hamid has been a member of the Mombasa Municipality Civic Council, Chairman of the World Memon Organization Conference and is actively involved in various capacities with the Memon Community in Mombasa particularly in relation to its constitution and by-laws. He is also a member of the Board of the Bomu Clinic and member of the Board of Governors of the Mombasa Technical Training Institute.

Hamid is married to Memuna. She is an active member of the Innerwheel Club of Mombasa having been its President in 1984. Hamid and Memuna have 4 children. Shahila is a graduate in Human Resources; Ruhina is studying law, Ilham and Abdulqadir, both in High school in Mombasa.
